HOME invaders who stormed a house in Mount Lawley were armed with swords before one of the intruders was fatally stabbed, it has emerged.
A friend of one of the residents described seeing two men armed with “big swords” go into a house in Mount Lawley in the early hours of this morning.
One of the intruders later died after being stabbed during the break-in at about 1.45am. Police would not confirm whether the man was stabbed with his own sword.
Homicide detectives are now on the scene of the home in Guildford Road.
Police have confirmed that one offender was stabbed during the altercation and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital. He has since died.
Two men who were at the house during the invasion were taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The witness told Community News that his friend suffered from multiple hits to his head, and had been cut on the arm with the sword.
The other offender fled the scene and is still on the run.
It has been reported that a trail of blood extended 100m along Guildford Road.
WA Police said homicide squad detectives now have carriage of the investigation.
The police forensic unit has cordoned off the scene with uniformed officers and plain-clothed detectives interviewing neighbours.
