Two men facing robbery and drug charges after East Perth incident

ALLEGED armed robbers ran across the path of police after the robbery of young women in Victoria Gardens, Royal Street, East Perth about 4.30 pm on September 17.

The two 18-year-old women were in the front of their car when two men got into the rear to take drugs.

β€œIt will be alleged that after receiving the drugs, one of the men produced a 5cm silver bladed knife and placed it up against the neck of one of the women, demanding their phones and wallets,” Senior Sergeant Crag Davis said.

The men left with an iPhone 7 and the drugs.

β€œPerth police, Perth bike officers and the canine unit were in the area looking for suspicious persons. and the suspects ran straight towards them and were apprehended,” Sgt Davis said.

A search allegedly found a pair of scissors, 28g of cannabis and 30 MDMA ecstasy tables tablets weighing about 8g.

A Victoria Park man (29) was charged with aggravated armed robbery, possessing cannabis and MDMA, before he was refused bail and remanded to attend court on September 27.

A Middle Swan man (38) was charged with aggravated armed robbery, possessing cannabis and MDMA, before he was refused bail and remanded to attend court on the same day.
