Unite on the Swan: push to break world raft-up world record in Perth

Julian WrightEastern Reporter

THE Perth canoeing and kayaking community hopes to smash a world record this Sunday with the largest raft-up on the Swan River.

Unite on the Swan, an initiative by Canoeing Western Australia and Water Wanderers Kayaking, last year made the Australian record for the largest raft-up with 302 participants.

This year the aim is to beat the USA’s largest record of 3150, which was achieved in 2014 by One Square Mile of Hope in Inlet, New York, in 2014.

Added motivation to snatch the record is South Australia’s world record attempt with Floatfest on the Murray River on the same day.
