Up close and memorable

Gypsy Circus is being produced by renowned Circus Joseph Ashton with a cast of Perth-based performers led by circus ringmaster Magnus Danger Magnus.

Magnus, a familiar face on the local cabaret, burlesque and variety scene, said the circus would be shown in a smaller foyer tent, rather than a big top, so the entire audience would be close to the action.

Ruth Battle, Erin Burley, Adam O’Connor and Jules Bullen will join Magnus for the hour-long show featuring everything from aerial daring and clowning around to manipulators, acrobats, hula hoop and diabolo.

There will be the Ashton signature ponies act with traditional pony rides and a chance to meet the cast after the performance.

Producer Renee Pilkington said everyone in Gypsy Circus had previously worked together and it was rewarding to have the opportunity of making such a fun family-based show.

‘We’re creating good things for people to remember and not many people get to do that,’ Pilkington said.

‘No one remembers going to the shops or the library but they remember going to the circus.’
