Vincent Mayor praises Light Up Leederville Carnival

CITY of Vincent Mayor John Carey praised organisers of the fifth Light Up Leederville Carnival.

The free event on December 4 featured a street light ceremony, live entertainment and food village.

Mr Carey said organisers made the event smaller, replacing fireworks with a light show, with a stronger focus on attracting local residents.

“We are often obsessed with making events bigger and better, but this one was made smaller with the site size,” he said.

“It was relaxed with a lot of families.

“We learned from past mistakes, there were no coffee businesses brought in from outside the area because Leederville has its own.”
