Vincent puts properties up for sale

"We had already budgeted to dispose of them; it's not because of budget issues," Mr Carey said.

The council agreed to sell 81 Angove Street, North Perth, at a special meeting on March 31.

The council also approved the sale of 291 and 295 Vincent Street, Leederville, at its ordinary council meeting on Tuesday.

Mr Carey said the two Vincent Street properties were too small for the council to use for a project but ideal for developers wanting to build high-density housing.

"There are already high density developments along that road. I would expect a similar development, maybe four storeys. A developer could build over the top of the easement," he said.

Mr Carey said despite the sale of the properties being budgeted before the City's financial issues were uncovered, it would go some way to balancing the budget.

"This will assist the budget, in addition to the significant cuts we have made," he said.
