Her comments followed a report suggesting it was set to be the ‘loser’ from new council boundaries. The report speculated the City would miss out on some of the key assets it had been lobbying for under local government reform, including the lucrative Burswood peninsula where Crown Casino is located and the new sports stadium is being built.
‘This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to ensure critical and iconic infrastructure is located in the capital City of Perth,’ Ms Scaffidi said.
‘We hope the State Government remains committed to shaping a strong capital city which is the economic engine room of our State and the headquarters of our key industries.’
Last week, the office of Local Government Minister Tony Simpson advised he would defer announcing recommendations received from the Local Govern- ment Advisory Board until he had considered two separate proposals.
