WHEN Norma Davis retired as a medical scientist, she missed the hospital atmosphere so much she returned as a volunteer at St John of God Murdoch Hospital.
“I live in Riverton and thought I might be able to offer something up there,” Mrs Davis said.
“I just wandered in and asked.

READ NOW“I started in the coffee shop because I like talking to people and food.”
That was 25 years ago.
Mrs Davis currently volunteers in the endoscopy ward serving refreshments to patients, soothing them and running errands.
“I love the hospital atmosphere. I’m used to it and comfortable with it,” she said.
Mrs Davis was among 24 volunteers who received a certificate for service to one organisation for 25 years or more from WA Governor Kim Beazley at the Volunteering WA Garden Party yesterday, which was International Volunteer Day.
The group of volunteers has contributed more than 835 years to volunteering.
