WA on display in local food and wine series on WTV

WESTERN Australia’s finest truffles, cheese, wines and more are set to be showcased in a new television series starting on Thursday night.The launch event for The Food and Wine Trails of WA was held this week at the Backlot in West Perth.

Chef Maurizio Di Ciano from No Menu 448 is the show presenter, taking viewers on a journey with produce and people from Perth and the south west while cooking up a storm.

“People work really hard to achieve these businesses,” he said.

“For a chef, it’s so important to have fresh produce.”

WTV board director John Rapsey said the series showcased more of WA than just “beaches and sunscreen”.

“We’re trying to capture the enthusiasm of all the producers and contributors in the program,” he said.

Regional Development, Agriculture and Food minister Alannah McTiernan attended the event to present Food and Wine Institute of WA awards to the businesses featured, including Spudshed, Borello Cheese, Le Vietnam, and Manjimup’s Truffle & Wine Co.

The show launches on WTV at 8pm on October 18.
