Wakes and Petals: former Paralympian Sandy Yaxley hosts fist solo art exhibit in Leederville

Julian WrightEastern Reporter

PARALYMPIAN, gold medallist and record holding swimmer Sandy Yaxley’s first solo art exhibition will open next week in Leederville.

Yaxley, who won five gold medals in Seoul in 1988 and Barcelona in 1992 and had two world records, will display 22 paintings in Wakes and Petals that represent her swimming career and her love for flowers.

She said having Drysinetic Cerebral Palsy, which affects her hands and impairs her hearing, has not hampered her.
