TEN children will get the chance to test run the Elizabeth Quay Island Playground early next year.

The Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority is running a colouring competition, which will be launched as part of the Playgroup WA annual fun day today, to select the group.

Aspect Studios designed the playground in collaboration with Nature Play WA and artist Anne Neil.

It includes a sand pit with landscaped boulders, log steppers, a ‘walk the plank’ where children can dig and create in the sand and a sand and a water table.

There will also be climbing ropes and frames to scramble and scale, a ship’s bell to ring, and a slide and shallow splash pond with a creek.
