Woolly thinking a winner

BEAUFORT Street will soon be all stitched up when the popular strip is yarn bombed.

A group of dedicated knitters will decorate the bike racks along the road as part of National Yarn Bombing Day on June 7.

Jude Cornuel, of North Perth, and Sandra Royer, of Bayswater, already have some of their ideas sewn up, including small animals and multicoloured sleeves for bike racks.

The pair have previously worked together to bomb other locations with yarn, including St Georges Terrace and trees at the Beaufort Street Festival.

‘It is just something that makes people happy,’ Ms Cornuel said.

More yarn bombing is planned for this year’s Beaufort Street Festival, when about 31 trees will be covered in knitting.

Keen knitters are being sought. Anyone interested in weaving their mark on Beaufort Street can email hello@beaufortstreet. com.au.
