Ernie a man of vision

Ernie was a great Australian and a great role model for his Aboriginal people. I still recall his relaxed and happy attitude to life when he played his guitar and sang a fine song in the House of Parliament.

Like C.Y. O’Connor who constructed the pipeline to Kalgoorlie and the Goldfields more than a 100 years ago, Ernie was a visionary who proposed a water pipeline from the Kimberley to Perth.

Rapid climate change and forecasted longer summers with record-breaking high temperatures will turn our wheat and sheep farming lands into a dust bowl. Yet all the State Government can do is provide Perth with treated sewage water and desalination plants.
