Nothing new about ‘new economy’

THE Prime Minister has often stated we are all living in very exciting times as we transition to a new economy.

What we all need to know is what the new economy will look like.

The statistics released for the May job figures are quite disturbing. Twenty thousand extra jobs were created in May but they were all part time.

Since last September, 60,000 full-time jobs have been lost.

In the past six months, the economy has created 35,000 net new positions, 79,000 new positions (all part time) and a loss of 44,000 full-time positions.

Heaven help our children if this is what we are transitioning to.

Help also needs to go to those parents paying for a university education for their children.

The way things are going in this phase of the transition, law students on graduating could become baristas instead of barristers.
