Opinion: Kitchener Park the next battlefront

Paul Clements, DoubleviewEastern Reporter

It’s with a disbelieving interest I watch our new government, first they created “battle Royale” over education central and lost.

Next on the battlefront is Kitchener Park, a most audacious plan to remove precious green space from the people of Subiaco.

Although I guess fair is fair as the good residents of Doubleview sacrificed green space in the battle.

Two green spaces down and what’s next?

One can only assume the next casualty will be the City Beach High site.

More space lost forever in a battle easily won by re-establishing City Beach High, the only casualty there being the oval at Doubleview Primary.

The ironic part of all of this?

The battle had been fought and won in the two years prior to the State election.

It’s time for our new government to realise that green space is one thing that can’t be replaced when it’s gone.
