Highgate resident questions the factuality of ‘Christians Guilty of Bloodshed’ opinion piece

THE writer of the letter in last week's edition headlined "Christians guilty of slaughter' should follow his own advice and read his history books (if he has any).

Islam has fought innumerable bloody wars over the centuries, not only the two quoted in his letter, since its first war in AD 630.

Reading my history books, I find that for instance the Ottoman Empire did not rule over its occupied territories with exactly soft-gloved hands.

My personal experience of the Second World War tells me that it was not a religious war and Muslims fought in it as well.
