WE understand John Giorgi hoped to keep the job he’s held for a preposterous 20 years.

My soapbox stand on such is well known: elected councillors and council-selected CEOs ought to be limited to eight years’ service.

The trouble is that no one able to bring this about has the guts to act.

Our acceleration into the digital future indicates a competitive lifetime of several occupations, these varying in nature.

The sooner we condition ourselves to this prospect of “musical chairs” the better, thus reducing inescapable stress.

It’s time for tunnel-vision local councils to begin lighting the way. The less entrenched capital City of Perth and, of course, Vincent, can set examples.
