Vulnerable pay

Janice TeoEastern Reporter

IT is ironic that on International Day of Disability (on the back of Seniors Week) the Perth Transport Authority denies certain disabled people and seniors their existing ability to travel.

I refer it stripping away the No. 15 bus route from the centre of Glendalough and Mt Hawthorn catchment areas to the margins on the pretext of low patronage.

Who pays? The taxpayer does, with higher costs. The local community pays, with lessening of bus services. The most vulnerable pay the highest price – loss of their ability to travel.

Those charged with protecting the vulnerable fail in their duty.
