BETHANIE will open 48 serviced apartments at its Bethanie on the Park complex in Menora today.
Targeted at people aged 80 years and over, the apartments will provide support and independence, sitting between what is offered in an independent living unit and an aged care facility.
Residents will be able to live independently while enjoying a tailored level of support as needed, including freshly cooked daily meals, weekly cleaning and laundry, and built-in health technology.
Bethanie chief executive Chris How said the apartments were a first for WA.
“We saw a gap in the market for an option which just wasn’t available here in WA; we are offering retirement living in a completely serviced apartment,” he said.
“We know how important it is within the ageing process to retain independence.
“What these serviced apartments offer is the option to remove some of the necessary everyday tasks that can become more difficult and perhaps keep us from staying at home for longer.”
The apartments have been finished to a high standard, offering modern living in a picturesque location on the doorstep of Yokine Reserve.
Every apartment has a large balcony with plenty of room for an outdoor setting and barbecue, and residents will also have access to the Bethanie on the Park clubhouse with a ballroom, dining area, bar and entertainment zone, library, hair salon, on-site wellness centre and a fully equipped gymnasium.
Residents will be supported by the latest technology to ensure the highest level of care with minimal interference and each apartment will be equipped with devices that will recognise if the resident has a fall, triggering an alarm for the Bethanie village manager to respond to the apartment within minutes.
One and two-bedroom apartments are available with prices starting from $385,000, and for less than $45 per day, meals, cleaning, laundry, and Bethanie’s health and wellness technology app are all included.
