Stately home full of charm and character

Natalie HordovEastern Reporter

BUILT in 1919, many families have grown up in this grand home over the years.

The owner bought the home in 2000 and now her children have grown up and have children of their own.

She is downsizing, providing an opportunity for a new family to run around on the wooden floorboards and play in the established gardens.

It is a beautiful character residence, with high ceilings and ceiling roses, jarrah floorboards, original fireplaces, and stained glass windows, but the owner said it is definitely a home for a family.

“When you walk through the front gate, you get an immediate sense of being home,” she said.

Her favourite area of the home is the kitchen, with its large walk-in pantry, as she likes to cook and entertain.

The home has hosted a range of parties from birthday parties for young children and teenagers, to Mother’s Day high teas and New Year’s Eve parties complete with a dance floor.

If you have older children, they will appreciate the one to two-bedroom, self-contained apartment downstairs.

Four more bedrooms are in the main part of the house, including the master with ensuite.

There is also a formal dining room, living area and family dining area.

The living area opens to the large veranda where stairs lead to the alfresco area.

The home is on a 926sq m block, near Hyde Park and Beaufort and Angove streets.
