This year, the Farmer Street club celebrates its 100th anniversary, with current and former members set to take part in centenary events.
Life member Geoff Gell said he first joined in the club in 1984, with stints as president, captain and vice president.
‘The club is a really family-friendly place,’ he said.
‘With the hard courts, which were opened in 2009, we have been able to keep more people involved in the club, especially juniors.’
Gell said although the club was relatively small, with about 80 members, it was growing.
Club president Basil Rompotis said centenary celebrations would offer current and former members the chance to relive the past.
‘We are hosting a re-enactment match to highlight the first competitive inter-club match at the club,’ he said. ‘Players will dress up in period costumes, outfits that almost resemble bowls attire.’
