IT was a big weekend for English import Callum Taylor, who won Mt Lawley’s First Grade Club Champion Award and was named in WA Premier Cricket’s WADCC Team of the Year.
Callum’s recognition was the bright point on a disappointing 2016-17 season for the Hawks, who finished in 14th spot with one outright win and two first innings victories.
The Essex teenager scored 508 runs at an average of 33.87 and took 28 wickets in a standout season.
Callum is back in England and was unable to attend Friday night’s Olly Cooley Medal for the WA Premier Cricket best and fairest but he was recognised with selection in the Team of the Year.
Mt Lawley curator Neil McDonald was also a winner on the night, claiming the Most Improved Pitch Award for Breckler Park 1.
