Football: Mt Lawley keeps finals hopes alive after thumping Quinns District

MT Lawley kept its WA Amateur Football B League finals hopes alive on the weekend with a thumping win over cellar-dweller Quinns District.

The Hawks rolled the hosts 15.9 (99) to 8.8 (56).

Adam McKinlay kicked three goals, with a great supporting cast contributing two goals each: Fletcher Cooke, Tom Rees, Jay Abbott and David McKinlay.

Adam McKinlay now has 54 goals for the season, and David has 51.

Kayne Garrett battled hard for Quinns District with three majors but too much was left to too few, and the Hawks added valuable percentage with the 43-point win.

Mt Lawley is now in fifth, just one game short of the three teams 2nd to 4th.

With a superior percentage to fourth-placed Kingsway, Mt Lawley can leap into the top four by beating Whitford this weekend but only if Kingsway lose to Quinns District, or Collegians to suffer a big loss to lowly Melville.
