Rizzo (17) and Amy Quinn (16) were selected to the squad, which will compete at the Australian Championships in Melbourne in May to determine the final squad to compete at this year’s Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
Coach Krasi Yurukova said the competition would be strong between athletes hoping to make it into the final team.
‘It is their first competition at this level and they are very young in comparison to the other competitors,’ Yurukova said.
‘This will be a good experience for both of them.’
Yurukova coaches the girls at the Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy at the Loftus Centre in Leederville, where she also guided Janine Murray’s campaign heading into the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Both Rizzo and Quinn will compete across all four apparatus ” hoops, balls, clubs and ribbon ” at the upcoming Australian Championships.
