Ice hockey: Perth Thunder takes to the ice against Melbourne

PERTH Thunder return to action this weekend after a bye in the national Ice Hockey League.

The Thunder will play two away games against the Melbourne Mustangs on Saturday and Sunday.

In their most recent matches, on June 18 and 19, the Thunder had mixed fortunes, losing 3-1 on the Saturday before triumphing 6-3 on the Sunday against Adelaide at Perth Ice Arena.

Local forward Jonathon Bremner celebrated his 100th game with the win.

American forward Michael Dorr will look to continue his impressive form this weekend after scoring three goals and two assists across the two matches.

Defender Rob Haselhurst and goaltender Tomas Heemskerk have also impressed.

The win in the Thunder’s most recent game strengthened the team’s position in the top two.

They now enjoy a five-point lead over third-placed CBR Brave, with one game in hand.
