Netball WA life member receives Service to Sport Award

NETBALL WA Life Member Sue Neal received the RAC Insurance Service to Sport Award this week.

Neal’s contribution to the sport was celebrated by a crowd of West Australia’s sporting elite at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, alongside fellow winners Bruce Prance (diving) and Murray Hall (cycling).

In a volunteer career spanning more than three decades, Neal has served as a coach, umpire, bench official, committee member and administrator.

Netball WA president Deane Pieters commended Neal on her honour.

“As a collective netball community we are extremely proud of Sue and all that she has achieved,” he said.

“She epitomises all the qualities we desire in netball and is a wonderful example of the selfless and resolute attitude that has driven the growth of our sport.”

Highlights from Neal’s career include serving as a coach for the Southern Districts Association and South East Demons Region for eight and six years respectively, a Bench Official in both the Championship and 2015 Netball World Cup and President of Sapphires Netball Club (2003-2009) and Scorchers Netball Club (2014-present).
