WEST Australians Jess Anstiss, Annika Lee-Jones and Sophie Garbin have made the Australian under-21 team for its tour of Fiji in January

The 14 athletes were selected from the 2016-17 Australian Netball World Youth Cup squad, following a camp at Netball Australia’s Centre of Excellence in Canberra.

Netball WA chief executive Simon Taylor congratulated the athletes on their selection.

“As a collective netball community we are incredibly proud of Jessica, Annika and Sophie,” Taylor said.

“Their selection in this team is testament to their hard work throughout our State Team and High Performance programs, including time spent with WAIS.

“I have no doubt all three players will take full advantage of this opportunity, representing our State in the best possible fashion on the international stage.”

The final Australian World Youth Cup squad will be named in April, taking into account performances from Fiji, as well as performances in the inaugural Super Netball and Australian Netball League seasons.

The final team selection will take place in May to determine the players who will travel to Gaborone, Botswana in July for the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup.

Anstiss and Lee-Jones have been signed by West Coast Fever for the inaugural season of Super Netball in 2017.
