INGLEWOOD United tightened its grip on top spot on the National Premier Leagues WA ladder with a 2-1 win over Bayswater City at Inglewood Stadium last Saturday.

Brian Woodall found the back of the net after 19 minutes, and Mark Pritchard put the home team 2-0 up five minutes later.

Andy Reale scored a consolation goal for Bayswater at the 90 minutes.

It is the third time Coach Taki Nicolaidis has guided Inglewood to victory over their neighbours this year.

“It is just perseverance I guess,” he said.

“And I think just belief in our playing group that you go out there with a plan and execute it well.”

Bayswater attacked early but Inglewood’s defence held firm.

A surging run through the midfield by Kenny Keogh set Woodall up for the first goal, and Pritchard duly converted a penalty after Sam Mitchinson’s brought down Ashley Rosindale in the box.

Bayswater keeper Devon Spence battled hard to prevent a rout, with two excellent saves against Woodall and Josh Pereira later in the first half.

Inglewood keeper Alex Dunn matched his counterpart with two strong saves of his own after the break, twice denying David Heagney.

Spence then stood up again to thwart Keogh and Reale headed a goal from a corner late in the game to make it 2-1.

Inglewood travels to Dalmatinac Park to face Cockburn City on Saturday.
