Coaching staff invited the 17-year-old to international trials after noticing Zimarino during his team's three-match tour of Spain in April.

The Dianella resident said it was a huge opportunity.

"I’ve been invited for an extended trial with the Real Valladolid International team," Zimarino said.

The attacking midfielder started the year playing U18s but graduated to the U20s side after he returned from Spain.

Despite recovering from a torn quadricep, Inglewood United coach Michael Garcia added Zimarino to the senior side to play against Armadale earlier this month.

"It was a huge step up but I felt ready for the challenge," Zimarino said.

"Considering how nervous I was and that I’m just getting back from five weeks out through injury, I was quite content with my performance."

The Chisholm Catholic College student leaves for Spain on September 4.
