Premier Cricket: Mt Lawley and Wanneroo evenly poised after day one

MT Lawley and Wanneroo shared the spoils on day one, with both sides fighting hard throughout the day for a consolation win at Breckler Park in their Round 14 Premier Cricket fixture.

Wanneroo skipper Chris Quelch sent the Hawks in to bat, with the hosts eventually bowled out for 245.

In reply, the Roos are 0-21 and fancying their chances when play resumes next Saturday.

The hosts began well, building partnerships before Matt Dzodzos took control with consistent strikes.

Callum Taylor (43), Michael Smith (41), and Ian Fishman (35) all got starts, but couldn’t go on to the big score with tight bowling preventing free runs.

Twelfth-placed Mt Lawley are unable to make the finals with two rounds to play, but will be playing for pride.
