The boys, Denym Clarke, Jack Daynes, Payden Porter, Corry Tearoa and Kade Pearce, will play against four different Queensland teams during the tour.

Payden said being selected into the team had given him a sense of achievement.

‘There were more than 100 boys trying out for the team and three cuts were made,’ he said.

‘To be selected after this long process was definitely an achievement.’

The boys, who are all part of the school’s rugby specialist program, have also been part of the school’s recent success on the field.

The Open Sevens Rugby team recently won the Sevens Tournament hosted by The Scots College over the Easter weekend, competing against teams from Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Last year, the school’s rugby teams made 15 grand final appearances for 14 wins.

Corry said consistently playing against and with strong players at school resulted in his individual improvement and selection onto the state team. ‘We have so many talented students in the Aranmore rugby program, which helps me to extend my skills and develop into a better player,’ he said.
