Rugby Union: Wests Scarborough wraps up minor premiership with 76-19 thrashing of Associates

WESTS Scarborough clinched the Premier Grade minor premiership with a dominant 76-19 victory over Associates on the weekend.

The damage was done in the opening half with Wests Scarborough running in seven tries in the opening 40 minutes before flexing its muscles in the second half to run away with a 57-point victory.

Wests Scarborough head coach Dwayne Grace said he was impressed with his side’s effort and proud of what his team had achieved so far this season.

“We are just trying to get better and better every week in the lead up to finals,” he said.

“We really targeted this game in terms of securing that minor premiership a week out.

“We haven’t won the minor premiership in 12 years so it means a lot to the boys and it means a lot to the club, so for the boys to be able to get this one everyone is pretty happy.

“We are happy with our form and will try to keep that going for next week and once you get to finals it is a different ball game so we will get ready for that.”

In other games, Palmyra defeated Perth-Bayswater 69-7, Nedlands defeated UWA 67-19 and Cottesloe beat Joondalup 27-23.
