Swimmers, coach make it to state team

Jordana Tonner, Georgia Truscott, Jackson Govers, Paras Nain, William Rollo and Brett Fielding were selected for the state team after earning a collective 49 medals between them.

Coach Ian Mills was also selected as a state coach after the successful championships.

Club president John Fielding said the results suggested the club could expect a successful year in the pool.

‘For all of these athletes this was the first real hit out since the Australian Championships in April,’ he said.

‘There were some very solid swims and personal best times.’

Fielding said the club’s long term future was good, one year after the merger of the City of Perth and Lawley Aquatic Swimming clubs.

‘The big growth in the last 12 months of our junior members is especially pleasing, which augers well for the future strength of the club,’ he said.

‘The members we have at the moment in our age and elite squads are very supportive of each other and share a unique bond which promotes good swimming performances.’
