James BaverstockEastern Reporter

On the back of his side being bowled out for just 93, Verco unleashed havoc on the South Perth batting order with 7-25 off his 12.5 overs.

The Hawks will look to once again put their first innings performance behind them and build on the solid start to their second innings.

The second grade side batted first at Richardson Park, managing a respectable 219 in the first innings thanks to contributions from Taylor Landquist (60) and Mark Grant (45).

In fourth grade, the Hawks batted first and managed 221, thanks to handy contributions from Vivek Ambat (45) and Robert Wass (30).

The Hawks also had a good win in the first round of the Statewide T20 competition.

The managed to bowl out University for 115.

Taylor Landquist’s 3-10 and debutant Tully Biglin’s 3-23 helped to contain University.

Shane Rakich’s 42 and Luke Berendsen’s 30 not out was enough to guide the Hawks home.

An outright victory is again a prospect for the Hawks on the second day at Breckler Park.
