WACA Premier Cricket: Mt Lawley well placed against Rockingham-Mandurah

MT Lawley is well placed to claim its first win of the Premier Cricket season after an impressive opening day against premiers Rockingham-Mandurah at Lark Hill on Saturday.

Justin Kandiah took a brilliant six-wicket haul to bowl out the Mariners for 239 after the hosts had won the toss and elected to bat on a warm day.

Kandiah finished with 6-61 while Jay Chislett also contributed well, taking 3-44.

In reply, the Hawks are well placed at 1-118 after 25 overs, with James Newnham (51n.o.) and Callum Taylor (53n.o.) setting a quick pace.

Mt Lawley needs a further 120 runs when play resumes this Saturday in order to claim its first win of the season against the Mariners, who are also winless.

Oliver Mouchemore was the only man out, trapped lbw by Lachlan Pratt for 12.
