Western Fury players help out at Manna for World Homeless Day

Giovanni TorreEastern Reporter

PERTH’s best female cricket players recently marked World Homeless Day by lending a helping hand at charity Manna.

Western Fury teammates Elyse Villani, Megan Banting, Bhavi Devchand and Katie Hartshorn helped prepare and serve lunches at Manna earlier this month.

Manna is focused on the preparation and delivery of fresh meals every day to disadvantaged groups in the community.

The meals are delivered to the homeless at Weld Square in the Perth CBD at 1.30pm every day except Saturday.

Manna, based in Victoria Park, has been operating for 20 years and was started by retired farmers Bev and John Lowe.

The Fury have got off to a bumpy start this season, losing to the ACT Meteors by 25 runs on October 14 and by seven wickets to Victoria Spirit on October 16 at the WACA.

They have a chance to make amends on October 29 and 30 when they face New South Wales and Queensland at Blacktown International Sports Park in back-to-back games.
