Wheels in motion for cycling career

The 15-year-old was chosen to be part of the elite cycling program after winning the 2011 Golden Spokes Race and 2013 Team Pursuit as a member of the Junior Cycling PuraVida Apollo Racing Team.

He is ranked in the top 10 under-17 riders nationally.

Alex said he started racing about five years ago after seeing his sister in cycling competitions, now he trains almost every day.

‘I train upwards of eight times a week and my weeks are always jam packed,’ he said.

Alex said he was excited to be included in the scholarship program and train with other elite junior cyclists.

‘My goal in cycling is to make a national team and continue on from there and pursue a career on the track,’ he said
