The recent hospitality awards have judged overall appearance of dishes, customer service, food presentation and taste, the coffee and the ambience in the shop, cleanliness and customer satisfaction.

The award was for Best Coffee Shop/Tea House in WA in the Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence.

"We were so surprised with our win, as we were simply delighted to be there as a finalist," owner Shaun Kane said.

"It was a wonderful surprise and a fantastic reward to our valued staff, who have helped to make our store what it is today," co-owner and Shaun's sister, Debbie Hawley said.

The Coffee Club Kalamunda employs 15- 20 staff members and the hours for staff vary from 5-8 hours a day per shift.

Mrs Hawley said the most popular dish at the café is the bacon, egg and tomato and toast avocado and feta smash range.
