Sally McGlewHills Avon Valley Gazette

The studio space is next to The Soul Tree Organic Cafe, on Railway Parade.

Opened by Jose-phine Tanham, the studio is an extension of her classes, previously run locally from home.

"The expansion into a new space has allowed us to bring on more teachers and to offer additional classes and beginner classes along with Yoga and Mindfulness meditation classes," she said.

Ms Tanham has been teaching yoga since 2009 but practising the discipline for 25 years.

Her foundation training was an 18-month hatha/vinyasa teacher training course at The Yoga Space in West Perth.

Her yoga practice has taken her around the world, with her practising in Singapore, India and Europe, and learning from internationally renowned masters.

More recently her work has been complemented with further studies in mindfulness meditation practices, which have become an integral part of her classes.

"I love drawing on and learning from a diversity of yoga and Eastern wisdom traditions, and making the links between them so that they are relevant for daily life in the Hills."

Other teachers in Glen Forrest include Darleen Clausen and Kristen Rodic.

Ms Rodic's specialty is pre and post-natal training.

Ms Clausen has specialised in general classes and yoga for mums and babies.
