Hills alive with sound of music

STUDENTS from two high schools in the Perth Hills have passed tough auditions to secure places at the WA Academy of Performing Arts.

Eastern Hills Senior High School Year 12 musicians Hayley Ferris, Zeena Tulk-Ayoub and Arund Pearce will study for a Bachelor of Musical Performance at the prestigious academy.

Music teacher Maurice Bourgalt said since 2000, 51 students from the school had continued music studies at tertiary level.

He said he was proud of the high standard of music students and ensembles at the school in Mt Helena.

Nearby in Glen Forrest, Helena College students Beth Gosper and Annika Moses will also study for a Bachelor of Composition and Music technology next year.
