Start artistic journey

The Make Your Mark visual arts series is an initiative of the Mundaring Arts Centre in partnership with the City of Swan and Ellenbrook Arts.

Mundaring Arts Centre director Jenny Haynes said the partnership would deliver art workshops to the eastern region.

“Whether the individuals taking part are iconic artists sharing their skills, and therefore leaving their mark, or a young child making their first, tentative creative splodge, Make Your Mark celebrates a sense of community and the creative journey,” she said.

Primary school teacher Louise Cook will launch the program on March 5 with a children’s workshop for the very young.

Ms Haynes said the first activity was for youngsters aged three to five years.

Along with painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture and textile activities, the art series will include storytelling and group projects.

The workshops will culminate in an exhibition of selected work in July.

Ms Haynes said the program would provide time for parents to participate and meet like-minded people.
