Perth’s SpacetoCo to appear on Channel 10’s Shark Tank, pitching their web-based space hire platform

A START-up company based in the Perth Hills will be hoping the sharks are circling when they deliver their punchy elevator pitch on the Shark Tank tomorrow night. .

The guys behind SpacetoCo will front the panel of investors to pitch their plans to expand their web platform that lists unique local spaces for hire for anything from weddings, to tennis games to business meetings.

Co-founder Jeremy Hurst said the web platform was a game-changer in the traditional rental market.

“The idea came to me in 2015, my wife and I had just become Airbnb hosts and 10 months earlier we married in our backyard in the Perth Hills,” he said.

“It suddenly occurred to me that if we could be married in our own backyard, maybe others could too.

“We were already sharing accommodation spaces so why not share more?

“From here the idea exploded into a massive range of potential space-sharing ideas from sharing a tennis court through to a commercial kitchen, gymnasium or even a music recording studio.”

Mr Hurst said their Perth business was growing strongly.

“We’re already in WA and SA and we have hit a milestone of 500 spaces and booking growth is improving each month as the word gets out.”

Shark Tank sees self-made multi-millionaires judge business concepts and products pitched by ordinary Australians.

The episode will air on Ten at 8.45pm on Tuesday.
