A woman and 10-year-old boy have died in a horror crash overnight in the Wheatbelt

A WOMAN and a child have been killed in a horror crash overnight near Corrigin.

At around 12am Sunday night it is believed a Holden Commodore towing a trailer ran out of petrol on Brookton-Corrigin Road, with the male driver leaving to walk towards Corrigin to get fuel.

A woman and four children were waiting in the car for the man to return.

Police allege a semi-trailer towing grain being driven by a 46-year-old man, came around the bend of the road and crashed into the rear of the car and trailer, pushing them into a nearby paddock.

A 26-year-old woman and a 10-year-old boy died at the scene.

An eight-year-old boy and five-year-old boy both received serious injuries, and a three-year-old girl received minor injuries. All three were flown to Perth Children’s Hospital by the RAC rescue helicopter.

The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old man from Corrigin was located by police walking along Brookton-Corrigin Road.

Police are currently at the scene.
