AWARD-winning actor, director and playwright Frank Ferrante recreates his internationally-acclaimed show An Evening with Groucho, which has shown on PBS TV, New York and London stages.
His acclaimed portrayal of legendary comedian Groucho Marx in a fast-paced 90 minutes of hilarity is showing for one night only in Kalamunda on October 30, at 7.30pm.
The two-act comedy consists of the best Groucho one-liners, anecdotes and songs including Hooray For Captain Spalding and Lydia, the Tattooed Lady.
Shire President Andrew Waddell said the show is described as nothing short of masterful and that it was one night out on the town not to be missed.
“The Shire is delighted to host yet another high-quality show on the Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre Stage, so be sure to book your tickets early to avoid missing out,” he said.
“The audience literally becomes part of the show as Ferrante ad-libs his way throughout the performance in grand Groucho style.”
Accompanied by his onstage pianist, Ferrante portrays the young Groucho of stage and film and reacquaints us with the likes of brothers Harpo, Chico, Zeppo and Gummo, Charlie Chaplin, WC Fields, Greta Garbo, Marx foil, Margaret Dumont and MGM’s Louis B Mayer.
It is a show for all ages and Ferrante is an actor, director, and producer described by The New York Times as “the greatest living interpreter of Groucho Marx’s material”.
Tickets are $40 adults and $35 concession. Buy tickets online at www.kalamunda.wa. gov.au/kpac or by phoning the Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre on 9257 2558.
