Avon Valley National Park closed this week for prescribed burning

THE Avon Valley National Park will close tomorrow until Friday at 4pm for prescribed burning.

The Department of Parks and Wildlife is urging people to avoid the area, follow the advice of department staff and observe signs.

Visitors already in the area should leave.

Prescribed burns werestarted today 5km east of Kalamunda and 8km north-west of Ellenbrook.

The department says prescribed burns created low-fuel areas in a mosaic of burnt and unburnt patches, which helped stem the spread of bushfires.
