Big year for Forrestfield and Districts Bowling Club

THE Forrestfield and Districts Bowling Club has completed one of its best seasons in its nearly 30-year history.

It increased its membership by 49 per cent and eight new members came from the club’s Community Bowls competition.

Seven of its 10 pennant teams made the finals, including the club’s first Saturday Ladies Pennant team, who won promotion to Division 2.

Work on Forrestfield’s synthetic green, funded through the State Government and the City of Kalamunda, starts next month.

“We are extremely proud of our achievements this year, especially being a volunteer club,” a club spokesman said.

“We cannot thank our sponsors, members and volunteers enough.”

The club’s community activities include bingo on Monday nights, Weight Watchers on Tuesday nights, Community Bowls on a Wednesday night, darts on Thursday night and bowls throughout the week.

Top novice bowler recognised

Novice bowler Carolyn Szymanowicz took everything before her at Forrestfield last season.

She came through the club’s Community Bowls competition and was part of the Saturday Ladies team.

She won or came a close runner-up in almost every club championship.

Her achievements included Ladies Singles champion, Ladies Pairs champion, Ladies Triples champion, Ladies Fours runner-up, Mixed Pairs champion, Mixed Triples champion and Mixed Fours champion.
