It has earned her the annual prize from WeightWatchers as the biggest loser in WA.

Her weight is now hovering around the 86kg mark and when she joined one year ago it was about 134kg. She said she had dropped from a size 26 to a size 14.

But it was the dedication and energy she put into losing the weight that won her the annual championship.

‘Last year mum was the fourth biggest loser in the club with a 23.5kg loss and now she is sitting on a 36kg loss, but hers has been done without exercise,’ Mrs Italiano said. ‘Mine has been done with a treadmill, which has helped me to lose weight quickly.

‘I have also changed my diet to eat on time and smaller portions and healthier choices of meals as well,’ she said.

Mrs Italiano, who lives in Marangup, said she travelled to her mother’s group in Forrestfield every week for the meeting.

As a diabetic, she said she was motivated to lose the weight because she did not want to inject insulin every day.
