Boya Community Centre to honour writer on International Women’s Day

BOYA Community Centre will officially open on Wednesday to coincide with International Women’s Day.

Mundaring Shire President David Lavell said the occasion would celebrate the new building and local writer and political activist Katharine Susannah Prichard.

The relocated library bears the name of the late novelist who lived in Greenmount with her war hero husband Hugo Throssell.

Guest speaker Landgate acting chief executive Jodi Cant will talk about innovation, in line with the 2017 International Women’s Day theme of ‘be bold for change’.

The event is open to the public from 10.30am and donations will support the work of Koolkuna, the eastern region network of services for individuals and families affected by domestic violence.
