The upgrades were announced in last week’s State Budget, with $1.5 million allocated in the first year and $1.5 million the following year.

Swan Hills MLA Frank Alban said it was a great outcome for Mundaring and Swan Hills.

‘This isn’t just going to benefit our basketballers, but our hockey players, netballers and their families,’ Mr Alban said.

The upgrades will pay for undercover courts.

In April, 2012, Mr Alban took Premier Colin Barnett to the complex and met club representatives to discuss the clubs’ needs.

‘I continued to fight locally and in Parliament to deliver this upgrade, and I am pleased to see its time has indeed come,’ Mr Alban said.

‘These upgrades will ensure that Mundaring Sport and Recreation Complex will have new undercover courts and modernised amenities.

‘The Premier again visited the site in February, 2013, during the election campaign and I am proud to see this election promise included in the budget and planned to commence in the next financial year.’
