Bushfire advice issued for suspicious fire in Greenmount

THE Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issued advice for a suspicious bushfire in Greenmount.

About 30 career and bush fire service firefighters are attending the fire on Old York Road, which is contained but not controlled.

According to DFES there is a lot of smoke in the area but no current threat to lives or homes or immediate danger.

The fire started near the intersection of Great Eastern Highway and Burton Road on the Shire of Mundaring.

Some roads have been closed including Great Eastern Highway west bound, from the intersection of Old York Road.

DFES asked motorists to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.

People with respiratory conditions who are affected by smoke can contact a local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222.
